Transparent NGO Network – Punjab WORKSHOP At Faisalabad

 

 


 

Transparency International Pakistan ‘TI-P’ is planning to set up a platform for various NGOs with the purpose to get the ‘ANTI CORRUPTION’ message passed to the grassroot levels and to provide help to the people who are facing corruption. Rural Development Organization ‘RDO’ and TI-P have already signed an MOU. RDO has been chosen as Coordinator for the Transparent NGO Network – Punjab. Towards this end RDO has made initial visits to various NGOs in Punjab, most of them in the Southern part. .

A workshop was held in Faisalabad on 29th June 2010 for those NGOs which had been visited and chosen to introduce them to Transparency International Pakistan and ALAC and also to get them to know each other. The purpose of the workshop was put forward and feedback taken. Some of the points raised were:-.

• To enable connectivity monthly meeting to be held

• ALAC office at District Levels

• Coordination amongst NGOs and ALAC, emails and telephones numbers to be exchanged

• Talk with government departments and take them on board

• Communities to be educated on corruption and their Leaders to be involved

• Brochures to be distributed near Religious institutions

• Khatibs to be taken into working with us

• Educational institutions should impart course on corruption

• Area problems to be solved by locals in the first instance

• Social mobilization

• MOUs to be signed with the NGOs

• Trainings to be conducted for NGO personnel

• Chief Ministers to be approached by TI-P to get him to pass a message to the bureaucracy to help our Network solve complaints received by us

• First and foremost the Network group to start practicing what is preached

• Board to be installed at the NGOs office stating they are TI-Ps partners

• Some kind of identity to be given to the Network members identifying they are working with TI-P/ALAC

• Funds for NGOs for running various programs
